THE PROPOSAL

..............He walked into the restaurant and went directly to the second waitress. He seemed like he was so hungry and just needed to eat. Minutes later after eating he took his phone and got busy. I passed by, then I noticed he had his eyes glued on me. I felt a little uncomfortable.

''Excuse me''

I looked up and I was the only waitress in the restaurant.

''Can I help you sir'' I asked moving over to his table.
''Have we met before'', he asked looking seriously into my eyes.

Same old line I thought to my self. He could have come up with a better line.

''Don't think we've met before sir''.
''I could swear I've seen you somewhere''

I was in a hurry to leave so as not to be caught discussing with a customer, then he held my hand

''Can you sit?''
''No sir, am on duty''
''Just for a second''
''Sir a second has passed''

He smiled and quite frankly his smile was charming.
''OK, how about five minutes''
''Am all ears I said standing with my hands at my back.

He explained how I looked so familiar and He knew I thought he was trying that popular line (I smiled at that though).
I kept nodding my head just to feign being engrossed in the conversation(monologue)

I was not interested in his introduction or the fact that it was his first time at the restaurant. The only thing that caught my attention and glued my feet to the ground was his awesome dentition and the way his lips moved as  he talked.

He was finally done talking and I took my leave. Did I forget to mention, we exchanged numbers and he kept calling. Just because I couldn't see his teeth or lips I felt it needless to pick his calls.

Two weeks later, Mr nice dentition came back to the restaurant. I sighed as I sighted him at the entrance. I took the next exit and disappeared. I went straight to the ladies and conveniently instagramed my time away (please excuse my expression)

Minutes later, I checked my time

CHINEKEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

I've been sitting in the restroom for forty five minutes. I quickly dressed up and touched up my make up. Humming my favorite tune as I walked into the restaurant, I met the same gentle man seated patiently and waiting for........for.......me I guess. My manager called me and I went to answer

''The gentle man over there has been waiting for you, find out what he wants''
''Yes sir''

I walked into the restaurant towards his direction and he lifted his face and shone those 32 beauties at me.

''Hello, I've been waiting for you, where have you been''
''Good day sir''
''How are you''
''Great, sir''
''I've been calling you and you seem not to have interest in picking my calls, why if I may ask''

I loved his courtesy and I couldn't help but laugh.

I'm sorry sir, I guess I've been busy''
''It's OK, he replied. ''I would like to take you for dinner and am sorry cause I won't take NO for an answer''.

I finally gave up on saying no and one dinner gave birth to several other dinner and lunch dates.

Two months into our friendship turned relationship, he called me on a beautiful Tuesday evening. He said he was coming over to my place so we could see a movie he bought on his way back. I asked him to buy pizza while coming.

The pizza got delivered to my place ten minutes before he arrived. We talked over pizza while enjoying our movie, savoring every taste. Then out of no where he brought out a little blue box and smiled at me.

''I want you to have this, I bought it for you''

My heart skipped a million times, the world seemed to have stopped, my vision became blurry, I couldn't see his face well.

''What did you say'', I asked.
''Open it Love''
''...........I ......don't think this is the ......right time'', I started stammering and everything about marriage suddenly became very scary to me. Lifetime in marriage seemed like an endless journey which I was not prepared for. I didn't know what to say to him. Then his voice brought me back to reality

''Sweetheart, are you OK''
''Yes, am fine.
''Open your gift, It's yours''

I finally summoned up the courage after some minutes of indecisiveness. On opening my 'gift', I saw a beautiful purple brooch with pink glitters on it. I screamed out loud. My joy knew no bounds. It was the most beautiful little brooch I had ever seen and I was happy it was not a ring Even though I wanted marriage but at that point it scared me a lot

So that was how my heart nearly stopped beating at the thought of a proposal. The rest of the night went so well and of course not without my Mr handsome laughing at me all through the night for getting scared at the face of what perfectly looked like a proposal.
