10 Powerful Habits Of Every Girl Boss

The word ''Girl Boss'' has been in circulation for quite a long time now and I personally like it. It connotes independence and a sense of achievement to every girl who uses it the right way. A ''Girl Boss'' is an industrious, disciplined and independent woman who strives to have her own and become more through helping others and learning more. She is savvy, articulate and creative in so many ways.

The social media perception of the word ''Girl Boss'' has given a misrepresentation of what it actually means. In the rise of the advocacy for women to be given opportunities in places of power and become more involved in decision making, independence and run affairs, the word ''Girl Boss'' came up. The girl child is now given opportunity to go to school, become well informed and grow in the different facets of life.

In a bid to raise fully baked ladies who will not parade themselves in mediocrity with no knowledge and are aloof as to what is required of them, here are the habits every ''Girl Boss'' should have. If you don't have them, you can start inculcating them bit by bit (as I'm doing).

  • PRIORITIZE YOUR LIFE AND TIME
There is time for everything. Needs should be prioritized above wants or desires. When you have taken into cognisance that on your scale of preference, the arrangement should be properly done to promote growth financially, morally, spiritually and physically. This equally applies to your time. As every minute counts and no second ever comes back, make sure to use your time properly and live a balanced life. No aspect should probably affect the other. Don't forget: Priorities! There is time for everything.

  • SAY NO TO PROCRASTINATION
This is one aspect I still battle with. I tend to always start off my day with the really easy things on my To-Do list and towards the later part of the day when I get tired, I push over the more stressful work to the next day. I have however found the twist. In the morning when my energy level is still high, I tackle the difficult work. That way its easier to do the less stressful ones later. Procrastination rubs one of accomplishments and over time we get so little done and work in general suffers. So as a ''Girl Boss'', you should try hard to banish procrastination from your life. It's a bit challenging but the discipline is amazing.

  • STOP FEELING ENTITLED
The feeling of entitlement comes with a lazy mindset and in turn you get too laid back in life to actually move past your current level. You have to work for what you want. No one would hand you over anything. Even if you do have people willing to hand you over what ever you need or want, don't ever get too comfortable and start feeling entitled. The world is your oyster, however you have to make things work by actually working for it.

  • READ SOMETHING NEW DAILY
A ''Girl Boss'' is known for her smartness and Savvy ways. You must be well informed and this comes with learning daily. Try to learn something new daily. It necessarily does not have to be in your field as general knowledge is really very important.

  • PLAN OUT YOUR DAY
Productivity is very important and the little efforts of trying to plan out our day is key. Usually I write down my To-Do list for the next day before I go to bed. That way it gives me a clear picture of what I'm supposed to do and I mentally start processing It. This habit has helped me so much that I get so much done before the first half of the day (That avails me time for fun without feeling guilty). Every Boss should learn the importance of proper planning.

  • ALWAYS AFFIRM DAILY
The power of positive declarations can not be over emphasized. When I was going through a very rough time early January, I would always prep talk myself and Write down how I felt. It had a way of relieving the tension and I felt better and saw myself  strong enough to handle the situation. So in addition to daily positive self affirmation (which you can either write yourself based on how you want to be and become or you can also download already written ones) you should also find solace in expressing your thoughts on a journal. On bad days or good days, its a healthy way of expression and it really feels as though the weight its been lifted.

  • TRAIN YOUR BODY
As much as the mind is to be trained, you should train your body too. A ''Girl Boss'' has to be in great shape. So make it a commitment to exercise at least 4-5 times a week for not less than 30 minutes. Don't relegate exercise to those trying to loose weight, its a very vital part of your health and I'm sure you know that.

  • SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, MEAN WHAT YOU SAY
Accountability goes a long way in shaping our personality. When you mean yes, please don't say No. Learn to be known for he/she who keeps to their words, that way people will find it easier to work with you. I too I'm still learning this. It goes a long way to help you in your relationships with people.

  • EMBRACE PUNCTUALITY
We all know that Africans are known for their lateness hence the phrase ''African Time''. However, as a ''Girl Boss'', you should be different. Punctuality is a discipline you have to imbibe and make one of your core values. This punctuality should also be applied in your wake up time. Keep to that 5am or 4am rising time. Stop hitting the snooze button OK! Whenever you want to hit that snooze button or go late for a meeting, remember you are a Girl Boss and you have discipline.

  • ALWAYS GIVE A HELPING HAND
As much as you can, always help others. We are lifted when we lift others.

We can do this Ladies so lets be seen as different because of our amazing wonderful habits.
When next you hear the word ''Girl Boss'', look out for a morally rich lady and not the mundane ones parading themselves on social media yet lack morals
