Five Essential Oils That Are Must Haves

I discovered the wonders of essential oils years back and ever since then I've not let go.
Essential oils are highly concentrated volatile plant extracts obtained through different extraction methods. They are mostly used in aromatherapy or either rubbed on the skin for skin care.

In all the goodness of essential oils, some are photo-toxic. This means they should not be used  more than 0.5 percent on the skin that is  exposed to any amount of sunlight. Examples include lime oil, lemon oil and bergamot oil.

These ones I'm reviewing right here are completely good for skin and hair and are not photo-toxic.

1) Argan oil
This right here is my favourite. Its so great for the skin and hair. Its gotten from the Moroccan Argan tree and the triterpenoids naturally found in it offers great health benefits from treatment of acne to improving hair colour and volume. Its been also found to fade age spots. I could go on and on the benefits of this oil. So guys, research more and get yourself a bottle of Argan oil.

2) Almond oil
I learnt that there is a sweet almond oil and there's also the bitter almond oil. The later is used to provide scent and flavour while the sweet almond oil is full of vitamin E and A. We know vitamin E is an extremely powerful antioxidant which helps the body fight free radical (which are a major cause of skin deterioration). They are also amazing at retaining skin moisture and would definitely not clog your pores (if you are using it for skin care) since its non-comedogenic.

3) Lavender oil
When lavender is mentioned, what comes to mind is its amazing smell on sheets and homes. It really does smell good. However  what some of us don't know is that the oil is great for skin care. It reduces the appearance of acne on the skin, slows down ageing with its antioxidant properties  and relieves pain too. This oil is an all rounder. It not only reduces emotional stress, it also helps in healing wounds and burns.

4) Tea tree oil
When I broke out badly last year, a dermatologist recommended tea tree oil and that was the first time I heard of it as an essential oil. That being said, no one warned me of its itching and stinging sensation when applied directly to the skin. I learnt the hard way. This oil right here is amazing at battling acne or any skin infections including eczema.
Usually for sensitive skins, you should mix few drops in a carrier oil like coconut oil or jojoba oil. This way you reduce the burning sensation.

5) Jojoba oil
The last but not the least is the wonderful jojoba oil. Its extracted from the seed of the jojob plant. It helps retain moisture in the skin thereby keeping the skin hydrated. You'll know a hydrated skin looks so supple and fresh.  Its also known to prevent the build up of bacteria in the pores of the face which we know tends to cause blackheads and breakouts.

So here are my five top essential oils that you'll should have. So pick which ever suits you and start off with it. Don't forget to tell me how amazing your skin looks after you try 'em.
