UNCOMPROMISED

This Meme best explains the story
        .................................................................................

Just after dawn on Friday morning as the clouds over the east brightened from pale blue to white, Chioma who had called at her work place early in the morning to excuse her self from work on the grounds of being terribly sick packed her things excitedly into the brown leather box.

She had planned for this vacation with her boyfriend for so long and finally they got consent from work at the same time. Her's was not always a problem since she was a junior staff and could be excused from work if the reasons were cogent.

Tunde was supposed to pick her from the house that morning in two hours time. She lazily sat on the beamless couch at the side of the bed reminiscing on how they met.

A colleague at work had invited her for her boyfriend's birthday and since it was on a Saturday, She willingly accepted to go.

She was single at that time and was not in a haste to get into another relationship. The last one ended so bad and the hurt was still in her heart.

She was almost 25 and she kept reminding herself that 26 was the year. It was the year she would get married to the man she loved. She had fantasized marriage since she turned 22.

Chioma had been thinking about this as she left her apartment that evening. Black hair bouncing on her shoulder and arms swinging slightly.

She made her way through the living room where the party was happening. Men followed her with their eyes.  She was indeed beautiful and she knew it.

Her eyes met Uche her colleague and she walked up to her and greeted her with a big hug.
''Where is the birthday boy ?'', she yelled cause of the music.
''You look very pretty. The birthday boy is at the corner she responded, pointing towards the right end of the room.

Uche took her hand and led her through the crowd, stopping at intervals to greet guests. She finally stopped in front of a  tall slender fair skinned guy.

She smiled as she introduced Chioma to her boyfriend. After exchanging pleasantries she dropped the gift she brought with him and went back amongst the crowd.

She danced for a while with a couple of guys and replaced her drink each time the tray passed by. Hands slid around her waist. It was Uche.

She couldn't hear what she was saying, except that she wanted her to come with her. They went through the stairs and got into a room. There were three other guys in the room with a Lady on red boots. She was obviously flirting with one of the guys.

''I wanted you to relax and eat here, You can go down stairs when you are done''
She quickly left the room and returned with a hamper, water and some drinks.

''Make yourself comfortable'', She said handing her a spoon.

She left the room half way when she came back.

''Meet My baby's friend.....Tunde. Please pardon my manners.
Tunde seemed more interested in biting off a large chunk of the meat he had in his hand. He looked up after he had a sizable portion in his mouth and smiled.

They talked about work, friends and the Nation's economy while they ate. When she was done he asked her if she wanted to dance.

''cool''. They went down stairs, dancing beside each other. He whispered some words into her ears and she grinned from chin to chin. She bent over and hugged him.

Tunde kissed her on the cheek and took her out of the living room. They were ready to go home.

Few weeks later, they started dating. She loved him and he loved her too. She was grateful she gave him a chance and she seized each passing day to thank him for his generosity and kindness towards her.

She got off the couch and zipped her box. Some minutes later the door bell rang and it was Tunde.

Reading from Facebook, I didn't really know what to expect from the continuation here. Honestly, my mind was gearing towards a "good girl gone bad" type of story. Anyway, nice story so far. I look forward to reading it in full.
